About creating

Sometimes paintings stand on tiptoe to reach heights that are higher than they are currently capable of, to glimpse what is behind a high wall. Sometimes paintings leap up. Sometimes they don't even land and fly away, sometimes they crash against the cliff of the first critical glance or, admitting that they have no wings, they remain squatting motionless in a corner and dreaming of their greatness. As an artist in the Czech pedagogical pond, I perceive creation not only as self-expression. It is a way of moving through a world that is variously inscrutable, full of kind and ugly surprises, boring phrases and self-deception, but also inspirations springing from everyday situations and experienced thoughts.star_border

On Doubt

I am a vibrating electron of doubt and enthusiasm. The Rough, Puck and Cyrano on one stage. The provocation of various lines, colours, shapes that mean something at one moment and then disappear again, moving elsewhere, that is the magic that I like to succumb to. The maximalist precision of negligence and the minimalist warmth of simplicity. A brushstroke, the movement of a pencil on a background, a tender recording of an important moment that interests no one but you, warms no one, kills no one. In a world engulfed in images, where visual stimuli constantly compete for the eye's attention, in an environment where it is becoming difficult to live without a mobile phone, a hungry network and a voracious camera. I love wandering with the silent depth of a smoky breath in the middle of the solitude of a forest, the ease of walking through a deserted landscape, the soft indecision of the morning, simple physical fatigue. And then you step outside, emerge from your head into the world of the streets, of childish playfulness, of irritating restlessness, of the festival crowd, and you know you love it just as much.

You don't stay in one place.

 As long as you live.
